Hanami Party

It's the season for Sakura (Cherry Blossom) in Japan and Aiko had a Hanami Party with friends from park. Hanami Party is a party where people gather to enjoy watching the beautiful cherry blossom and of course for people to get drunk?! Sadly John couldn't make it!

The plan was that we would have lunch together relaxing under the cherry blossom whilst our children had fun. However Aiko was running around after AJ which means- no time to really enjoy the cherry blossom and no time for drinking...besides I'm pregnant anyway! This seems to be the way you have parties when you have children....isn’t it?! Maybe I should call this party “Not enough time to enjoy Sakura" Party !!!

Spoons

We were meant to be at a wedding party last Saturday and as this means we had booked with Aiko's Mum and dad for a bit of baby sitting we took the opportunity to get some free time on the Sunday. Aiko had found this place that did lunch but also allowed you (at a cost) to try your hand at wood carving. The cost we found out was not only 7.50GBP but also numerous blisters and cuts as we huffed and puffed our way through the process. Anyway we are now the proud owners of two spoons. The lunch we had brought including spoon making was about 12.50 but as you can see it was a great lunch!

Scan Update

Bit behind on the blog as we have so much going on at the moment- with the move to Yokohama mainly. Of course one thing that is certainly progressing is the pregnancy and we had a 19wk scan on 24/03/07. This time it was all a lot clearer and he/she was moving around quite a bit. Is it a boy or girl? Well we have an idea now but it's not certain yet so maybe we'll be able to be sure next time at the end of April. Oh the excitement mounts!

Indoor trains

There are a few strange things we get up to in the Henington household; sure that others find themselves doing similar - all in the name of family fun!.... Well we hope so.

Here's John and AJ playing trains・mmm doesn't look like the real thing does it? This was actually AJ's main Christmas present from us (well he doesn't know) and is a 10pounds plastic goal post set which gets more use as a train as you can see or a utensil for chasing John around when he plays with the football..

A word or two

Archie is a pretty easy going chap most of the time and doesn't seem to get phased with many things- this includes having strange parents. However put a camera in front of him and he either tried to stick his finger in the lens, want to see photos of himself or become a little camera shy. Sometimes though, just sometimes we manage to get a good run out of him. Here he is reciting a few (prompted) words-Oishi means delicious if you couldn't work that out and Pops is the name of his (Henington) Granddad just in case anyone wondered!?

Yokohama

Last weekend we had another trip to Yokohama to find somewhere to live. With Archie in tow it was always going to be interesting. On the first night whilst Dad was using the computer Archie grabbed the (almost) boiling kettle and provoked a panic response from Dad and all the contents went all over Archie but luckily most went on Dad . As the water wasn’t quite boiling, by the time it had been thrown in the air and come down again a lot of the heat had been lost- No serious injuries. I’m sure there is a scientific experiment in there somewhere!! Latent heat.. .mumble mumble….boyles law blah blah.


Of course a more normal use of time in hotels is to pilfer the cosmetics and/or try as many things as possible- can you get the mystery user of the face pack....
Sleeping in the same room as Archie means from 8pm onwards we have to whisper and walk round the room as quietly as possible.
